Safety and security
We want to continue driving down crime so that our passengers can make the most of everything London has to offer.
Community Safety Plan 2008/09
Our Community Safety Plan outlines how we intend to further improve safety and security on London's transport network.
Published by Transport for London in partnership with a number of key agencies, it will contribute to the Mayor's commitment to make travelling in London safer for everyone.
The Plan's four strategic priorities are:
- Improving the perception of safety and security
- Reducing anti-social behaviour
- Reducing the level of violent crime, damage, fare evasion and theft
- Reducing deaths and injuries on London's roads resulting from crime or anti-social behaviour
New initiatives being undertaken on the transport network in 2008/09 include:
- Increasing the number of police and police community support officers
- Banning alcohol consumption
- Enforcing mandatory use of Zip Oyster cards for free youth bus travel
