Transport for London

Map licensing

Diary showing map The Underground map is recognised the world over as a symbol of Transport for London and even an icon of London itself - but did you know a licence may be needed to reproduce the map?

The map is protected by copyright and the logo is a registered trademark. So although the map is seen everywhere in London, you need to contact Pulse Creative (TfL's appointed map licensing administrators) in order to get permission to use it.

You will need to sign a licence agreement and pay royalty charges (if applicable) if you wish to use the London Underground map in a commercial publication.

The process for obtaining approval to reproduce TfL's maps is as follows:

Step 1: Customer places an order which is sent to Pulse Creative

Step 2: Pulse Creative draw up a licence agreement and invoice based on order details given

Step 3: Pulse Creative return the licence agreement and invoice to the customer

Step 4: Customer signs and returns the licence agreement and arranges payment to Pulse Creative

Step 5: Pulse Creative releases artwork to the customer
